Chris is a Stanford-educated tutor with over 10 years experience tutoring math to students of all abilities and levels, from pre-algebra and middle school all the way through college algebra, calculus and the SAT. In that time he got a lot of experience learning how to explain this stuff in a way it actually makes sense to normal people, and he brings that experience to his videos, whether you are in class now or preparing for TEAS.
How to prep for TEAS using ThatTutorGuy.com -- The table below contains a list of all the topics you'll find on the TEAS test. In the right-hand column of the table are links to all the videos on our site that you'll want to watch to cover those topics.
About the test: The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) ® is used as part of the admissions process for many nursing schools. The TEAS® exam covers reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. This site will help you prepare for the math questions which cover topics from pre-algebra and algebra. Tests may either be on computer or paper depending on the test center. The test is timed with 54 minutes allotted for the math section. The tests are given throughout the year. The link below is for registration and provides more information about the test centers and dates.
Calculators: The TEAS V (old) test does not allow calculators. The ATI TEAS (new) test may or may not depending on the test center. Be sure to verify with the test center if they are allowed. If they are, only a simple 4-function calculator is allowed.
How to Study: Start by testing yourself on one of the the below practice tests. Usually we recommend using one provided by the company that makes the test as it will have the most relevant questions. Unfortunately ATI doesn’t provide a free test so if you can’t swing the cost, we are including a link to a good free test as well. Use a similar calculator as you will use on your test. Since the test is timed, practice in a timed environment as well!
General Study Tips: If you haven't found them already, Chris has a great series of videos on HOW to study including how to counter math anxiety prior to a big test and the best ways to prepare. Study Tips
